Clear aligners are custom-designed mouthpieces that fit snugly over your teeth. They’re more discreet than traditional braces but just as effective.
Clear aligners put mild pressure on your tooth roots and alveolar bone. Over time, this pressure moves your teeth into the proper position, improving the physical appearance of your smile, as well as your oral health.
At Orlando Center For Cosmetic Dentistry, Dr. Marcano and the team use clear aligners to correct various oral imperfections, including:
You might also benefit from ClearCorrect clear aligners if you have visible spaces or gaps between your teeth.
Orthodontic treatment with clear aligners begins with an in-office consultation. During your appointment, Dr. Marcano conducts an oral exam, reviews your dental health history, and asks about your goals for treatment. He then takes oral X-rays to assess the position of your teeth.
Dr. Marcano takes impressions of your mouth with an intraoral scanner. He uploads your impressions to a computer-aided design (CAD) program and develops a custom treatment plan that maps out the step-by-step movements of your teeth.
After finalizing your plan, Dr. Marcano sends impressions to a dental laboratory. The laboratory creates your first set of ClearCorrect aligners. About a week after your first appointment, you return to the office to try them on.
Throughout treatment, you return to Orlando Center For Cosmetic Dentistry every few weeks. At each checkup, you transition to a new set of aligners. Each new set gets you closer to your treatment goals.
Orthodontic treatment with clear aligners typically takes 6-12 months*. To help the process go as smoothly as possible, it’s important to wear your aligners for 22 hours each day. Only take your aligners out to eat and put them back in right after.
Once you finish wearing your ClearCorrect aligners, you transition to a retainer. A retainer is an oral appliance that ensures your teeth remain in the proper position.
