All-on-6 Dental Implants vs. Dentures: Which is Right for Me?

All-on-6 Dental Implants vs. Dentures: Which is Right for Me? Orlando Center for Cosmetic Dentistry

If you are among the estimated 36 million Americans that don’t have teeth you know there’s only one thing worse than missing teeth – playing the waiting game to replace your teeth. But it’s not just a time issue. It all comes down to what you’re willing to compromise to replace your teeth. Do you go with traditional dentures and assume you can tolerate them and get a good fit, so you don’t have to worry about slipping and sliding issues? Or do you go with what’s becoming the gold standard for replacing missing teeth – dental implants?

You may want to look at a new game-changing version of dental implants called All-on-6®, says our own Dr. Marcano here at Orlando Center for Cosmetic Dentistry. In this blog, Dr. Marcano shares his insights on dentures versus All-on-6® so that you can decide what’s right for you.

The All-on-6® dental implant versus dentures

When it comes to replacing missing teeth for most people, it comes down to personal preference, especially when it comes to time and convenience. Dentures have come a long way over the years. The materials they are made from are much more natural looking than ever before and more comfortable. But what hasn’t changed is that they are removable.

You need to take them out to clean them, and depending on the fit, may need a little adhesive to keep them in place. Despite the innovations in dentures, some people can’t wear them or want to wear dentures. That’s where dental implants come in.

Dental implants are titanium posts topped with a dental crown that are surgically and, more important, permanently placed in your jawbone, providing the ultimate do-over. Traditional dental implants use one post to replace each missing tooth. The process typically takes place over several months to a year. But not with All-on-6® dental implants.

Replaces a full arch with six implants

As its name suggests, All-on-6 dental implants expedite the entire dental implant process by replacing a full arch of missing teeth using only six instead of the normal up to eight implants that the traditional dental implant process usually requires. Dr. Marcano installs four implants at the front of your jaw and two at the back. The implants in the back of the jaw are placed at an angle to ensure maximum stability.

Perfect for the “want it done yesterday” patient

Both traditional dental implants and All-on-6 rely on your body’s natural healing process, where the lengthy time frame factors in. But since the math is different with All-on-6 and fewer implants that need to fuse to your jawbone, the osseointegration process is shortened. And that’s excellent news, especially if you subscribe to a “want it done yesterday” philosophy.

Less invasive with lower risk of complications

Similarly, since there are fewer incisions with the All-on-6 implant treatment procedure, it’s a less invasive surgical option, which translates into a quicker recovery and a lower risk of surgical complications like infections.

Here at Orlando Center For Cosmetic Dentistry, we are committed to offering our patients the highest quality, most advanced treatment available. In addition to All-on-6 dental implants, we offer All-on-4 implants and a single-appointment tooth replacement option called Ultratooth®
